Mobile Pantry
The Mobile Pantry Program is specifically designed to get food to hungry people living in rural
areas of the county that may not have transportation or access to one of the Food Bank’s member
agencies’ food pantries or soup kitchens. It consists of a truckload of food delivered by the
Food Bank to a designated site in an underserved area (an area where there is not a near-by food
pantry) for immediate distribution to hungry people.
The Food Bank currently operates Mobile Pantries in Mahoning County through funding from
Youngstown Mahoning Valley United Way. The first monthly distribution began in July 2010
at Lakeview Assembly of God in Lake Milton, Ohio, and served 74 people. In October of 2011,
420 people received food at this site. New sites in Goshen and Ellsworth have just been added to
the program.
In the near future, we will be expanding the Mobile Pantry Program into rural Trumbull County
with funding received from the ConAgra Foods Foundation’s Nourish Our Community program.
