Wells Fargo awarded $3,000.00 from their Investing in Our Communities Grant to Second Harvest Food Bank to support the BackPack Program at Campbell Elementary School. The Food Bank was nominated to receive this gift by David Croutch, branch manager, Wells Fargo Advisors in Canfield.
“Just over 50 percent of children in the Mahoning Valley are eligible for free and reduced-price meals,” said Michael Iberis, executive director, Second Harvest Food Bank. “The BackPack Program is needed to fill the gap on weekends and holidays when children are not in school, and since its inception in 2007, research shows that children participating in the program are performing better academically and exhibiting fewer behavioral problems. We’re thankful to Wells Fargo for their continued support of the BackPack Program.”
