The Harvest for Hunger Campaign 2013 raised $81,618 and collected more than 42,322 pounds of food to feed families in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
“We thank the residents of the Mahoning Valley and the Harvest for Hunger sponsors Giant Eagle, 21 WFMJ & WBCB, The Vindicator, Cumulus Radio Stations Y-103, HOT101, K-105 and UFCW Local 880 for a successful campaign,” said Mike Iberis, executive director of the Food Bank. “Individuals gave donations of food and funds at Giant Eagle and Sparkle Markets. Companies, organizations and schools held food and funds drives. We are extremely grateful to the Mahoning Valley community for their support of this campaign and for their year-round support of our efforts to provide emergency food assistance to those in need.”
Harvest for Hunger is a month-long food and funds drive that takes place in March and April to replenish food supplies during the summer months when donations tend to taper off and the need increases for child friendly food.
