More than 15,000 requests for emergency food assistance are being filled each week in the Mahoning Valley this holiday season, and with the winter months upon us, the lines at food pantries and soup kitchens will undoubtedly be longer, but you can help.
Give Food
There are many ways you can help families this holiday season who are struggling to put food on the table:
- Drop-off non-perishable food items at your local Sparkle Market through December 15.
- If you are not near a Sparkle Market, click here to view a list of locations that accept non-perishable food donations year-round.
- If you are visiting a Bottom Dollar store, you can purchase a pre-packaged box of food for $4.99 or make a monetary donation at the register through the Hunger Has A Cure campaign running through December 20.
Non-perishable food donations may also be brought to the Food Bank, located at 2805 Salt Springs Road in Youngstown. Our hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m. Stop in! We would love to thank you personally.
Give Online
Bank of America is sponsoring the Holiday Give a Meal campaign and will match donations 2:1. Visit: www.bankofamerica.com/give to learn more and make a donation.
Donate to our Food Bank directly by visiting our donation page. For every $1 given, the Food Bank can distribute $15 worth of food, or approximately 6 meals.
