Through April 12, Walgreens stores in Mahoning and Trumbull counties will be participating in Check Out Hunger, a component of the Harvest for Hunger campaign. Customers may tear off a $1, $5 or $10 coupon available at the register that will be added to their bill.
“We greatly appreciate Walgreens’ participation in Check Out Hunger this year,” said Mike Iberis, executive director of the Food Bank. “Their efforts at 14 locations in Mahoning and Trumbull counties will help feed many hungry families in our community.“ Last year, Walgreens stores in the Mahoning Valley raised $6,859 through the Check Out Hunger coupons.
Harvest for Hunger is one of the largest annual, community-wide food and funds drives in the nation, and takes place in 21 counties in northeast Ohio. The campaign is a collaborative effort of four food banks including Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley, the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, and Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio.
All funds raised and food collected in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties will remain in our communities to feed our friends and neighbors.
