The Senator Maurice and Florence Lipscher Charitable Trust has awarded $5,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank to support the Niles BackPack Program for the 2015-2016 academic school year. The BackPack Program is a national program of Feeding America, and is designed to meet the needs of children when other resources for food are not available, such as weekends and holidays.
“We greatly appreciate the continued support of the Lipscher Charitable Trust to provide child-friendly, nutritious food to 3rd, 4th and 5th graders at Niles Intermediate School in the upcoming school year,” said Michael Iberis, executive director, Second Harvest Food Bank. “One in 4 children in the Valley are at risk of hunger, and our mission is to fulfill this ongoing need in our community,” said Iberis.
