Home Savings Charitable Foundation Awards $5,000 to Mobile Pantry Program in Columbiana County

Second Harvest Food Bank was awarded $5,000 through the Home Savings Charitable Foundation to support the Mobile Pantry program in Hanoverton in Columbiana County.  The Mobile Pantry program is specifically designed to get truckloads of food to those who live in rural underserved areas of Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana counties or do not currently have access to one of the Food Bank's member agencies.

The Mobile Pantry program has been operating in Hanoverton since 2012.  The distribution is held the 2nd Thursday of each month 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Fellowship of the Beloved, located at 13696 Bethesda Road.  Currently, this Mobile Pantry serves 158 people each month.  More than one half of the food recipients are children and seniors.

“We are grateful to the Home Savings Charitable Foundation for their continued support of our work to ensure our friends and neighbors have enough food to eat,” said Michael Iberis, executive director, Second Harvest Food Bank. “Funds that support the Mobile Pantry program help us reach a population that cannot easily access a food pantry,” added Iberis.
