FirstEnergy welcomed new External Affairs Manager Laura Tubo to the Mahoning Valley on Thursday, November 12, 2015, with a reception for local community leaders at The Fifth Floor Restaurant in Youngstown. As part of the event, The FirstEnergy Foundation contributed $25 to the Food Bank for each person who attended, which resulted in an overall donation of $2,000 to help feed families in need in the Mahoning Valley.
This gift will enable the Food Bank to distribute $22,000 worth of food or enough for 10,000 meals.
“We welcome Ms. Tubo to the Mahoning Valley and we are extremely grateful for the continued support of FirstEnergy and its employees,” said Michael Iberis, executive director, Second Harvest Food Bank. “FirstEnergy is a year-round partner in the Mahoning Valley, working to alleviate hunger by raising funds and collecting food through various campaigns, including Harvest for Hunger, the Food Bank’s largest food and funds drive that takes place during the spring,” added Iberis. Over the past five years, FirstEnergy employees in Warren and Youngstown have raised $51,230 for the Food Bank.
