Cafaro Foundation Awards $10,000 in Matching Funds to Food Bank

The Cafaro Foundation has awarded Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley $10,000 in matching funds through 21 WFMJ’s Project: Feed Our Valley.  The Cafaro Foundation once again offered to match donations given during Project: Feed Our Valley during two events —Super Kmart food drive and the Eastwood Mall Holiday Concert up to $10,000.  The Mahoning Valley community once again responded by donating $21,058 and 3,752 food items!

“We are grateful to 21 WFMJ for continuing Project: Feed Our Valley and to the Cafaro Foundation for offering this matching gift for the 7th consecutive year,” said Michael Iberis, executive director, Second Harvest Food Bank.  “Their support of Project: Feed Our Valley over the years has enabled the Food Bank to distribute $770,000 worth of food to families in the Mahoning Valley.”

The Food Bank's mission is to solicit, store, and distribute food to hunger-relief organizations in Columbiana, Mahoning, and Trumbull counties; and to provide education and advocacy.
