On February 24, Second Harvest Food Bank kicked off the 25th annual Harvest for Hunger campaign.
Harvest for Hunger is a food and funds drive that takes place in March and April to help stock the Food Bank shelves for the spring and summer months when donations taper off. Last year, Harvest for Hunger raised $194,035 and collected more than 35,000 pounds of food. All funds raised and food collected remains in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties to help feed our friends and neighbors.
Financial contributions may also be made at supermarket sponsor Giant Eagle by tearing off a $1, $5, or $10 coupon at the register February 28-April 16 and at participating Sparkle Markets February 28-April 9. Donations are added to your bill.
2016 Harvest for Hunger sponsors are Giant Eagle, 21 WFMJ & WBCB, The Vindicator, Cumulus Radio Stations HOT 101, K-105 and Y-103, and UFCW Local 880.
