Help Kids Grow
Children who lack access to healthy food are more likely to struggle with educational setbacks and further health-related hardships down the line, such as Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and obesity.
Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley understands that a regular diet of nutritious food not only helps kids grow but it also helps them stay alert and focused in the classroom. With the help of our donors’ food donations, we can provide healthy meals to children through school pantry programs.
School Pantries
School Pantries are located on school grounds and intended to provide a more readily accessible source of food assistance to students at risk of going without food in the evening and over the weekend. The School Pantry is student focused and open to all students in the building. Participants are able to “shop” the pantry’s food donations and choose items that will best meet their needs at home. The Food Bank currently operates at over 35 sites in the tri-county area, having served 62,075 throughout those sites. For more information, please call Kim Brock at 330-792-5522 x107 or kbrock@shfbmv.org.
School Pantries are intended to service students and are not for the general community.

The Food Bank partners with nonprofit organizations in our three-county service territory to provide healthy foods to food deserts and underserved areas in the Mahoning Valley. Seniors, families and individuals can pick up shelf stable food donations, fresh produce (fruits and vegetables) and dairy, as they would from a regular food pantry.
